Clinical Investigation of the Cystic Lymphangioma

Abstract
1) A clinical investigation was made 6 cases of cystic lymphangioma, treated at the Kwang Ju Christian hospital as in the patient.
2) Cystic lymphangiomas arise as the result of congenital malformatian-of the lymphatic system and are considered to be a form of lymphatic hamartoma(1).
3) The common sites are the neck and the axilla in which 80% of the lesions, in our patients
occur as follows, 4 cases in the ncek, 1 case in the axilla, 1 case in the mediastinum.
4) Age distribution was 12 month age through 17 year of age.
5) All patients came to our hospital because of an enlarging mass after upper respiratory infection
or mild trauma, but there was no mass noted at time of birth.
6) Treatment is surgical removal of mass. In most cases diagnosis is easy because of visible
enlarging mass and treatment can be carried out early. But when lymphangiomas are located in the mediastinum diagnosis is late because symptoms are subjective.
